New Substack-aholic
Ready to Jump in with Sleeves Rolled Up!
Good morning, good evening, good night! I am new to substack and my husband (Greg Dickson) is addicted, so I’ve decided this is a platform I’d like to explore.
I am curious and love to explore women and gender studies. I am currently enrolled in a psychology program majoring in counselling women. I am a defender of women and men who have experienced domestic violence. I am an overcomer of DV from 20 years ago plus. Boy, it seems incredible to say 20 years ago.
Time seemed to stand still for a decade, then I became busy learning whatever it is that I am curious about. I explored my background related to DV and my growth culminated to a peak when my niece was a victim of intimate partner femicide. So I have a firecracker blowing out my ears (etc…) to expose the patriarchy. I would like to say I am a feminist, but one who believes in diversity and intersectionality. However, I have a bee in my bonnet about how men get abused too and it doesn’t get talked about. So that basically makes me a down right grumpy-fairy with an irreverent but relevant twist to my writing.
Excuse me as I explore my own naiveness (naive-mess as spellcheck just called me), about subjects related to BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ communities. That’s why I am studying and in the learning curve (as my husband calls it). My studies aren’t limited to these subjects. Most of my posts will probably begin with “Did you know?” At that point, please jump in to explore the diversity of the subjects.
By the way, my Greg says I don’t know the definition of paragraphs and I tend to write with a hot pen. That’s ok. I am going to go back and put in some paragraphs just for Mr-know-it-all and the poor people trying to read this.
Well if you got this far, I am doing the happy dance, because I tend to chase squirrels and this is my eccentric but eclectic mind. Welcome to my madd-muttering and journal filled with Amee-isms. I am writing my own dictionary.
Thanks for joining me in my first post. Hopefully you aren’t twitching after reading it!
